The conference was held under the auspices of Brigadier general Ing. Milo\u0161 Svoboda, the Deputy Director General of the Fire Rescue Service of the Czech Republic, and MUDr. Stanislav Br\u00e1dka, Ph. D., the Director of SUJCHBO.<br \/>\nThe conference was attended by 101 experts coming from scientific institutes, universities, professional first responders from Fire Rescue Service of the Czech Republic or emergency medical service who were interested in issues on civilian protection in CBRN field, participated in scientific national or international projects or were involved in development and testing of novel protective means, detection of dangerous substances and\/or prevention against thereof. New findings were presented in 33 oral presentations, including presentations of special guests from abroad, Dr. Catherine Bertrand from SAMU, France and Mr. Randy Sakowitz from First Line Technology, USA. The conference was supported by 9 partners from commercial field who exhibited new detection devices, detectors for explosives and other unknown substances, decontamination technical means, protective suits and means for microclimate modification or transport means for injured contaminated persons. Very interesting demonstrations of novel smart protective suit for firemen develeped by UWB Pilsen (awarded by international prize), \u201edo-it-yourself\u201c nanospider presented by a student from TU Liberec, cold plasma decontamination device developed by MU Brno or improved procedure of donning and doffing of PPE were presented as a part of the conference.<br \/>\nThe conference showed the mutual benefit of such meetings of experts offering an unique opportunity for discussing ongoing research issues or arranging new cooperations within future projects. The Hazmat Protect 2016 conference demonstrated that Czech Republic has a lot to offer.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\">Ing.
